 7^TH & 8^TH GRADE LANGUAGE ARTS AND SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER.

Davidson Day School, an Independent School in Davidson, NC, seeks a full-time 7^th and 8^th grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher.  As a Language Arts and Social Studies instructor, the position entails the following:

• Develop, implement, and collaborate with both departments on an experiential  program that encourages intellectual curiosity while building critical thinking, research, writing, reading and oral expression skills
• Collaborate with a team of 7^th and 8^th grade teachers (math, social studies, science, arts and music, world languages) to develop integrative themes and cross-curricular experiences
• Facilitate discussion as a 7^th and 8^th grade Team Leader who would meet once a day to discuss and develop academic, social and character development of students with 7^th and 8^th grade team leaders and Division head
• Work as an academic advisor to a group of 10 students to guide students through their Student Growth Portfolio process during a weekly advisory time

The ideal candidate for this Language Arts and Social Studies position will have a passion for working with Middle School students, direct experience as a Language Arts and Social Studies instructor, an understanding of independent schools and an awareness of current trends in education.  Strong interpersonal skills, the ability and desire to work collaboratively, flexibility, vision for growth and a good sense of humor are essential.

ELEMENTARY MUSIC TEACHER. 
Davidson Day School, an Independent School in Davidson, NC, seeks a full-time Lower School Music Teacher.   The position entails the following:

• Lead a general music program for toddler through 6^th grade students that includes teaching choral music, working with a variety of instruments and performing in different musical venues
• Teach weekly violin lessons to small groups of students during the school day
• Work closely with the Lower School faculty to implement an integrated music program that is innovative, collaborative and engaging
• Manage the curriculum mapping process to ensure continuity and effectiveness of the Lower School music program to support children’s musical skills and appreciation within a developmental framework
